Who is eligible to apply?
Any Grant Union High School senior, in good standing, may apply by contacting their school counselor in February of each academic year for an application.
How are scholars selected?
A committee of Alumni Association members assists the chairperson of the Board scholarship committee in reviewing applications and selecting scholarship award recipients.
When are the Alumni Association scholars announced?
Scholarship winners are announced during the final Senior Class assembly of the year, and the names of the scholarship recipients are included in the commencement program.
What are the amounts of the scholarships?
The Alumni Association typically awards twelve scholarships each year: six $ 2,000 scholarships and six $ 4,000 scholarships. In some years, special scholarships funded by alumni or their families have increased both the number of scholarships and, in certain cases, the amount of the scholarship awards.
How are Scholarships Funded?
Alumni Association scholarships are funded by membership dues, donations, and gifts from alumni and their families. Silver and gold memberships sustain the Alumni Association and provide additional support for our scholarships. Legacy League memberships substantially enhance our scholarship fund, and Legacy League members are recognized for their support in our newsletters. In addition, alumni and community members can make donations to our scholarship fund. Their donations may honor a Pacer’s memory, recognize a Grant Union High School staff member, or be part of a Pacer’s endowment. Consider supporting our efforts to make our students' educational dreams a reality by becoming an Alumni Association member or donating to the Alumni Association. (Memberships and donations may be tax deductible)
